Rooftop Guardrail Systems

Not protecting your rooftop with guardrail can have a serious impact on the health and well being of anyone that has access to your rooftop. Whether it is an employee that has to regularly access the roof for inspections, or an HVAC Technician in to do some service work, they should feel comfortable working on your roof. In some cases, like HVAC units, there are requirements where guardrails must be in place. HVAC companies are beginning to identify these areas and in some cases orders are issued to comply. If you are not sure of what these requirements are contact us today and we can help you get up to code!

To achieve this we offer rooftop guardrail systems that can be custom fit to meet all your needs. Another benefit to guardrails we provide is in most cases we can install them without needing to attach to the roof, they are non penetrating.  These non-penetrating systems mean no holes in the roof membrane, ensuring no leaks over time. These systems meet or exceed all Ontario MOL requirements, OBC, and CSA.

Respirator Fit Testing

Respirator Training and Fit Testing is mandatory for any employee that is required to wear a respirator as part of their job. This includes 1/2 masks, full face masks, self contained breathing apparatus, etc.  Employers must ensure no one uses these devices until theses requirements are met, failure to do so can result in injuries or in some cases death.

What is a ‘fit test’?

A fit test is used to make sure the masks are properly fitted to the individual who will be required to use it. Properly fitting PPE is the only way to make sure it will provide you with the level of protection you need. Properly fitting the respirator will make sure it seals to your skin. A respirator can only work when air passes through the filter. Air will take the path of least resistance, so if the seal isn’t there, the air will go around rather than through the respirator – and therefore lessen the protection. We use a qualitative method to verify if there is a good fit to the mask. Our Qualitative Respirator Fit Testing meets the CSA Standard Z94.4-18 on fit testing and can be completed at your workplace or at our office in Burlington, On. See below for a breakdown of how the test is completed.

Fit Testing Frequency

  • Once every two years (CSA Z94.4-18 requirement)
  • If the individual has significant weight loss that may effect the seal of the mask on the face.
  • Any other circumstance that may interfere with the fit of the mask. (Major Surgery, Accident)

Training Requirements

Along with ensuring a proper fitting mask a worker must also be trained in the care and use for the respirator they are required to use. Not every situation is the same and different levels of protection are required depending on what environment you are working in. We can help you determine what respirator is best for your situation and then instruct your workers how to properly use it.

Topics Covered

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Responsibilities of the wearer in the use of their PPE
  • Proper selection of Respirator
  • Proper donning and doffing of the respirator
  • Care and maintenance
